CTE Expo

This past Monday I participated in the CTE Expo. It was an entirely new experience for me because i am not used to interviewing people and convincing strangers to join our CTE academy. The whole room had projects from the sophomores, juniors, and seniors in order to give a glimpse of what the freshman should expect if they choose Web Design as their CTE academy. The CTE Expo's is so important in my opinion is because attract freshman to join Web Design in their sophomore year, but it was also an evaluation of how the sophomores could handle an environment where you have to talk to complete strangers and convince them that you are right. I have been in another interview before when I was applying for SEO Scholars. I was nervous then as I was Monday but I had to persevere and talk to freshman I didn't know and interact with them to make them believe that Web Design is the best academy.

The professional look we had did give me a little confidence because I felt good, but after a while the clothes got uncomfortable. Personally I feel that I didn't do so well because I didn't really talk to many freshman. The humorous part of my experience is the first freshman I talked to said he was not interested in joining any academy because he was moving in a few months. After I got the courage to finally talk to a freshman I was completely shut down.

I did talk with other freshman afterwards but I needed help from others. ways in which i could improve is to not be as shy as the freshman; be more outgoing next year and not be afraid to talk with the freshman. I wasn't the only one in need of help though, the person I was with would shift the question to me and I would do the same; we helped each other to keep the conversation interesting and enthusiastic. that was one of the few things i did right and i know it went well because the student seemed interested enough to ask questions. the way in which the CTE Expo helped me was to get a good sense of how an interview environment is and made me get out of my comfort zone. As a part of the WEB Design Team it helped because I got to see the upcoming projects i will have to do in the next two years; I met new juniors and seniors. At the end of the day the expo was a good experience for me because I got to meet freshman, discuss about things I did or will do, and improve my interview skills.

This is the second lab of this year and what we did was edit a picture of Lancelot using different adjustments. the main objective of this lab fro me was to experiment adjusting images in various ways so each one would have something unique about it but this lab has had something else in mind which was to teach us a new way to select an image which was to use edit in quick mask mode. the procedure of this lab was to first select Lancelot; however, we did not use edit in quick mask mode at first, we used whatever tool we wanted. the whole class soon realized how difficult it was to select Lancelot. then we learned about the magic of using edit in quick mask mode because we could then select most of Lancelot with ease without having the blue background ruining the image.   some of the major parts of a news paper include: a headline, cut, nameplate, deck, by-line, photo credit, index, cutline, graphic, jump line, and lead. Headline: the title given to a story Cut: a photo or illustration Nameplate/Masthead: a newspaper's name printed in a special type on the front page Deck: a secondary head-line which provides additional info about the story By-Line: name of the writer appearing above the article Photo Credit: a reference to the source of a photograph Index: an alphabetized table of contents f the newspaper Cutline: descriptive info appearing with a piece of "art", also called a caption Graphic: a combination of artwork and words which helps to visually explain a story Jump Line: line telling readers where the story is continued Lead: the first sentence of a news story informing the reader of who, where, what, when and sometimes how and why.

Project 3: Restore Old Photograph

this project was the process of restoring a damaged photo only using the editing tools. the objective of this lab was to restore the photo to how it would be before all the damage; all the editing was to be done to the " best " of our ability. the way i completed the project was by using the various editing tools in photoshop such as the patch tool, spot healing brush tool, healing brush tool, content awareness tool, and clone stamp tool. By using these tools in various ways you can get rid of most of the damage done over time. The tool i used the most was the healing brush tool and the spot healing brush tool because in my opinion worked the most efficient. Of course it wasn't perfect, if used too much it would just blur the image so it had to be used with caution. To me this was a very useful even though it is very difficult to become acustom to.
